Retail workers at Sephora join the union – UFCW 1518
Kamloops, B.C. – September 9, 2022 – Cosmeticans at Sephora Kamloops are the newest members to join UFCW 1518 after a successful application was filed under B.C.’s newly reformed labour legislation that allows for card-check certification after 55 percent of the workplace has signed union membership cards.
“It goes to show that no matter what the job, workers need a voice, and we are excited for the opportunity to represent the hardworking staff at Sephora,” says UFCW 1518 President Kim Novak. “These workers are ready to build an even stronger workplace with great jobs that pay the bills while providing work-life balance and we look forward to working with them to make it happen.”
Sephora Kamloops becomes the first location across the global cosmetics brand to unionize in Canada with workers choosing UFCW 1518 to improve their working conditions, build equity in the workplace and ensure fair compensation.
