BDM Scholarship recipient blazing the trail as first in family to attend university in Canada

Surrey, B.C. – August 2, 2022 – UFCW 247 member-dependent Dorsa Mir Mohammad Sadeghi is a trailblazer in her family as the first to attend university in Canada where she intends to pursue a career in dentistry after completing her Bachelor of Science degree at Simon Fraser University (SFU).

“Winning this scholarship is very important to me because I am the first person in my family to attend university in Canada,” says Mir Mohammad Sadeghi. “I would like to thank the union for awarding me this scholarship and supporting my academic endeavours.”

The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship offers a total of $18,000 in scholarships to UFCW Canada members and their families and is one of more than 25 union scholarships available to members and their relatives every year, totaling more than $300,000 in support.
