Drivers at First Student build a better life – UFCW 175 & 633
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. – June 24, 2022 – Over 100 school bus drivers at First Student in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario recently agreed to a new three-year collective agreement that increases wages, benefits, and more.
The new contract will see wages increase by five percent in year one, four percent in year two, and four percent in the final year of the agreement. Annual Ministry of Transportation (MTO) exams will be paid by the employer to a maximum of $440 in the new agreement, as will eye exams to a maximum of $120 per year.
Members will also see improved vacation entitlement and bereavement language, in addition to increased pay for snow days and PD days. Increases will also be applied to per diems for out-of-town trips and on charter rates.
