Manufacturing members at Groupe Lacasse achieve first contract – UFCW 1991-P
Saint-Pie, Que. – June 3, 2022 – Unionized since July 2021, the thirty or so employees working for Groupe Lacasse, in Saint-Pie, ratified the agreement reached between UFCW Local 1991-P and the employer. The new three-year collective agreement, in effect since March 14, 2022, will expire in 2025.
"The UFCW 1991-P is very proud of this first collective agreement for our members working for the Lacasse Group’” says Mario Maisonneuve, UFCW 1991-P President. “Through the excellent work of their bargaining committee, these workers have improved their working conditions while maintaining a decent level of working conditions in the beautiful Montérégie region."
This first contract negotiated by UFCW 1991-P brings several improvements to the working conditions of the clerks, operators, storekeepers, forklift operators, assemblers, seamstresses, upholsterers, team leaders, store managers as well as the patternmakers of this company specialized in the manufacture of chairs and office furniture.
Highlights of this collective agreement include:
- Minimum salary increases during the course of the agreement of 14.5 percent with some positions at 8.5 percent in the first year, to total 18 percent over three years;
- Enrolment in the UFCW Quebec Dental Plan, paid in full by the employer, which will allow for 80 percent reimbursement of dental related expenses;
- Improving the vacation ratio;
- Increase in the hiring rate from $18 to $22 per hour, depending on the classification.
