Childcare workers at Centre Éducatif la Clémentine join the union – UFCW 1006A

Ottawa – April 11, 2022 – Workers at Centre Éducatif la Clémentine are the newest members to join UFCW 1006A after concluding a successful organizing campaign that will see 90 staff members form a bargaining unit at the Ottawa childcare facility.

“In sectors across Ontario our local union is leading the way in providing exceptional union representation, negotiating strong contracts and building better workplaces,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley. “Our newest members fromCentre Éducatif la Clémentine have achieved a great victory for each other and their future.”

The new members work in a variety of roles including, Registered Early Childhood Educator (ECE), Kitchen Attendant and Substitute On-call. Workers organized to improve pay and job security and to gain seniority recognition.
