Urgent Appeal: Meat worker health and safety under attack in Brazil
Toronto – February 8, 2022 – Members of the IUF are calling on Brazil’s Ministry of Labor to reject proposals that would amend NR 36 regulations which govern health and safety in that nation's meat and poultry industry.
In 2013, after 15 years of campaigning, workers in Brazil achieved a major victory when the NR 36 regulations were implemented. The regulations help prevent repetitive strain in an industry rampant with such injuries. Repealing these measures will put over 50,000 Brazilian workers in the meat and poultry industry at risk.
