Restaurant members at Benny & Co. secure new contract – UFCW 500
Repentigny, Que. – October 29, 2021 – UFCW 500 members at Benny & Co. rotisserie on Notre-Dame Street in Repentigny unanimously endorsed a new collective agreement that will modernize working conditions at the restaurant for years to come.
“We are happy with the agreement reached as both parties maintained mutual respect in resolving the problems experienced by members through negotiations,” says UFCW 500 President Antonio Filato. “We take this opportunity to congratulate members of the negotiating committee for their commitment to transparency which in the end benefited everyone.”
The new contract grants part-time members more flexibility by reducing compulsory hours allowing students to meet both their work and study needs. It also provides wage increases upwards of 3 per cent every 1,000 hours, signing bonuses up to $350, an improved classification for assistant roaster and reduced work schedule for regular employees aged 55 and over.
More than 35,000 UFCW Local 500 members work at over 650 locations in Quebec. To find out more about the outstanding work of UFCW 500, visit the Local Union's website.
