Food retail members at Tremblett's YIG ratify new agreement – UFCW 1006A
Ingersoll, Ont. – July 16, 2020 – During the COVID-19 pandemic, the critical work of negotiating improvements for UFCW members continues with workers at Tremblett's YIG, proud members of UFCW Local 1006A, ratifying a new union contract that provides wage increases and more.
Ratified late last month, the new three-year collective agreement contains the following improvements for food retail members at Tremblett's YIG:
- Increases to the end wage rate for both part-time and full-time members;
- Retroactive raises for full-timers and part-timers at the end rate (to March 31, 2020);
- Part-time wage progression reduced from 7,150 hours worked to reach end rate to 4,501 hours worked to reach end rate;
- Full-Time Clerk / Meat Cutter wage grids improved, with increases ranging from $2.00 to $3.50 per hour.
- Wage increases for Part-Time Packer / Front-End Service Clerk at the end rate;
- Introduction of the Lead Hand position with a $0.40 per hour premium;
- Increase to the employee boot allowance; and
- Minimum wage language to protect workers at end rates.
Contract negotiations were led by UFCW 1006A Union Representative Bill Vantol, with support from members Kim Eller and Dave Cant.
