On the Front Lines: UFCW health care members
Toronto – March 19, 2020 – Across Canada, governments, public health officials, and citizens are working hard to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, and UFCW Canada’s health care members are on the front lines of this extremely important work.
Whether they are testing Canadians for coronavirus, recommending steps that patients can take to relieve symptoms, or providing hospital care to those severely affected by COVID-19, Canada’s health care workers are playing an integral role in helping to combat the spread of the coronavirus and taking care of people who have been impacted by the virus.
“From coast to coast, health care workers are stepping up to ensure that our communities and loved ones are tested and cared for during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the thousands of UFCW Canada members working in the health care sector,” says Paul Meinema, the national president of UFCW Canada.
“Our brothers and sisters in health care are front and centre in helping to address this crisis, and we cannot thank them enough for the vital and courageous work they are doing to keep Canadians healthy and safe,” the UFCW leader adds.
In response to the coronavirus outbreak, UFCW Canada has developed a COVID-19 fact sheet that provides essential information on the virus as well as resources that can help members and the public learn more about COVID-19. To access the fact sheet, click here.
