Cannabis members at Line One Contact Centres win first union contract – UFCW 1006A

Vaughan, Ont. – December 5, 2019 – Cannabis workers at Line One Contact Centres, proud members of UFCW Local 1006A, have voted for their first union contract.

The new collective agreement runs until July 2022 and covers call centre workers servicing the Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS).

Highlights of the new contract include wage increases, two new floater days, health benefits for all employees, and visitation language for the union.

“I would like to congratulate our bargaining committee for achieving a strong first contract with gains for the membership,” says UFCW 1006A President Wayne Hanley.

1006A members at Line One Contact Centres process orders, provide customer support, and mail tracking services for the OCS, Ontario’s online cannabis store.

“The members were determined to make gains and they achieved their goal,” says Lead Negotiator and Union Representative Dustin Magee. Along with Magee, Union Representative Ray Ramkhelawan and members Lori Park and Saif Shah also served on the negotiating committee.

The Line One members are one of the first groups of cannabis workers to unionize in Ontario. UFCW Canada represents thousands of workers in the cannabis sector in Quebec and the United States and is actively organizing in the cannabis industry across Canada.
