Vancouver – August 8, 2019 —Pride filled the streets of Vancouver on August 4, as activists from UFCW Canada Local 247 and from UFCW Canada Local 1518 paraded with thousands of other participants in a colourful and electric delegation down the packed West End parade route.
UFCW 1518 and UFCW 247 were joined at the parade by Canadian and American board members of UFCW OUTreach. OUTreach is the UFCW constituency dedicated to ensuring full equality for LGBTQI2S members at work, in their union, and in the community. Federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh also joined the UFCW delegation at this 41st annual Vancouver celebration of inclusion, which has grown into one of the largest Pride events in North America.
Throughout the year, UFCW Canada plays a leading role in advocating for full equality and opportunity for members of the LGBTQI2S community. As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, our union has partnered with numerous organizations to develop resources aimed at promoting inclusion in the workplace.
