Transportation members at Taxis Coop Québec build a better life
Quebec City – February 11, 2019 – UFCW Canada Local 501 members working at Taxis Coop Québec have ratified a new collective agreement that provides wage increases, double time provisions, a new paid holiday, and more.
The new three-year contract offers enhanced job security to the two-dozen taxi and telephone operators who comprise the bargaining unit. Members will also receive a retroactive 10 percent wage adjustment in the first year of the agreement, along with wage increases of 2.5 percent in years two and three of the contract.
Other highlights of the agreement include:
- A new regular employee status and a new provision on outsourcing;
- Major changes concerning the allocation of working hours;
- The establishment of double time;
- A new mechanism for position openings;
- Increased premiums;
- A 2 percent increase in vacation pay for all employees with 15 years of seniority;
- A new statutory holiday (namely, Good Friday);
- Enrolment in the UFCW Dental Care Plan; and
- The establishment of a reduced working week.
