Remembrance Day – November 11

Ottawa – November 6, 2018 – One hundred years ago, on November 11, 1918 at 11 a.m., the First World War came to a conclusion with the signing of an armistice agreement that brought an end to the hostilities.

Each year since, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, people from all across Canada stand together as a community to honour and remember the more than  118,000 Canadian military personnel who have died in action since 1914 – making the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. We also pay respect to the more than million two men and women who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian military to protect our freedoms.

This November 11th, on Remembrance Day, let us honour and remember our brothers and sisters in military service by acknowledging their courage and sacrifice, and by cherishing the peace we live in.
