UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Kelsi Brown
Quesnel, B.C. – June 8, 2018 – Kelsi Brown is one of eighteen UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship winners for 2017.
Currently attending the University of British Columbia, Kelsi is the daughter of Lynette Brown, a proud UFCW Canada Local 1518 member who works at Save-On-Foods in Quesnel, B.C.
Kelsi had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship:
"From the bottom of my heart, thank you for selecting me as a recipient of this bursary. The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship is important to my education and my future. This scholarship will be applied to my tuition fees. After I graduate, I will be attending further education by entering the Bachelor of Education program at UBC Okanagan, to achieve my life-long goal of becoming an elementary school teacher. I have known for a very long time that I am passionate about working with children, and this scholarship money will help me advance my education and pursue my dream career. Thank you, UFCW Canada!”
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependents for post-secondary education. The BDM Scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Roméo Mathieu.
