Carignan, Que. – March 15, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 500 members working at Les Marchés IGA Lambert in Carignan, Quebec have ratified their first collective agreement. The new three-year contract came into effect earlier this month.
Two days of productive bargaining garnered the following improvements for the IGA members:
The introduction of seniority;
Wage increases of 6 percent over three years;
40 hours of sick leave for full-time workers;
Three floater days for all workers; and
Bonuses for the department, kitchen, and pastry shop managers.
“We are very satisfied with the way this first collective bargaining session worked out for the new members IGA Lambert,” says Antonio Filato, the President of UFCW Canada Local 500. “This first contract protects high quality jobs in the retail food sector and reflects the hard work of our outstanding bargaining committee,” he adds.
