Members at TownePlace Suites Sudbury ratify new agreement – UFCW 1006A
Sudbury, Ont. – March 9, 2018 – UFCW Canada Local 1006A members working at the TownePlace Suites hotel in Sudbury, Ontario have recently achieved a new collective agreement.
The new contract covers the hotel’s 25 members and runs to December 31, 2019.

Highlights of the new contract include:

Wage increases;

The increase to $15/hour is protected regardless if minimum wage goes up or not on January 1, 2019;

Members can now use one of two personal emergency days as a personal day or on their birthday;

Increase in employer contribution to the benefit plan to $180 per member per month;

Regular joint labour management meetings will take place and minutes will be posted;

Bereavement entitlement language is protected against the personal emergency leave days in the employment standards act;
The negotiating committee was led by UFCW 1006A Union Representative Ric Pereira with support from members Julie Baronette and James Harmer.
