Members at Minute Maid ratify new deal – UFCW 175
Peterborough, Ont. – October 11, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at Minute Maid in Peterborough, Ontario have recently ratified a new four-year agreement that brings improvements to wages, contract language, and more.
Operating in the Peterborough community since 1948, the Minute Maid facility is home to 110 UFCW Local 175 members who produce nearly 95 percent of all Minute Maid products sold in Canada.
The union negotiating committee was able to secure the continuation of the employees' health benefit plan, as well as the following improvements:

Wages improve for both full- and part-time workers by $1.70 per hour over the duration of the contract;

All members receive a lump sum payment of $1,000 in the first year of the agreement;

Members receive increases to the boot allowance and freezer wear allowance;

Maintenance workers receive an increased allowance for the purchase of tools; and
-
New language addresses cross-training and job postings.
The union negotiating committee included UFCW Canada Local 175 members Paul Handy, Tom Hughes, Steven Scott, Mary Sherk, and Greg Waudby, and Local 175 Union Representative Mona Bailey.
