Canada’s leading union releases Annual Report
Toronto – September 7, 2017 – UFCW Canada, the country's leading and most progressive union, today released its inaugural Annual Report, detailing the union’s core activities, growth, and accomplishments in 2016.
The 36-page report showcases major achievements in UFCW Canada’s collective bargaining, political action, organizing, and education efforts over the previous year, and also explores the union’s advocacy on behalf of women, young workers, and equity-seeking groups during that period.
In addition, the Annual Report provides important metrics on UFCW Canada’s core activities, and outlines the union’s charity and fundraising work with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC), United Way Centraide Canada, and Faces of Our Children.
"Highlighting UFCW Canada’s key organizing breakthroughs, bargaining gains, political action victories, and advocacy work over the last year, this Annual Report explains who we are, what we do, and why we do it,” says Paul Meinema, the National President of UFCW Canada.
"I am very proud of the outstanding work that UFCW Canada members, staff, and Local Unions conducted through 2016, and I am confident that our hard work and achievements have put us in a stronger position to build more fairness for workers in the years ahead,” the UFCW leader adds.
