Migrant Workers Scholarship nominator profile: Salome Gichuki

Migrant Workers Scholarship nominator profile: Salome GichukiToronto – September 7, 2017 – Salome Gichuki is one of 20 successful nominators for the 2016 UFCW Canada Migrant Workers Scholarship.

A UFCW Canada member, Salome nominated her sister, Caroline Gichuki, for the scholarship. Caroline currently studies in Salome's home country of Kenya, where she is the youngest in her family of ten children.

Their father is a farmer who strives to provide for his family and ensure that his children receive the best education possible. The family is thrilled that Caroline is now one step closer to achieving her educational goals and her desire to become a nurse.

Since 2010, Canada's union for migrant workers has received tens of thousands of applications for our renowned Migrant Worker Scholarship program, and has awarded scholarships to dozens of children to benefit their educational pursuits here and in their home countries.

The deadline to apply for the 2017 Migrant Workers Scholarship is December 31, 2017. To find out more about the UFCW Canada Migrant Workers Scholarship program, or to apply for the scholarship online, visit www.ufcw.ca/migrantscholarship.
