Members at Abattoir St-Germain ratify new deal – UFCW 1991P
Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Que. – 27 July, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 1991P members working at the Abattoir Saint-Germain in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham, Quebec have ratified a new collective agreement.
The five-dozen members working at the plant voted overwhelmingly in favour of the new six-year contract, which includes the following improvements:
A $1.04 per hour increase to the company’s minimum wage rate, which is now $15 per hour;
A $0.50 per hour increase to the replacement and trainer bonuses;
Improved vacation time;
An annual attendance bonus of $240;
48 hours of floating leave after three years of service (instead of five);
A general wage increase of roughly $1.35 per hour more for most job categories.
