UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Trevor Atwater
Aylesford, N.S. – July 22, 2017 – Trevor Atwater is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2016.
Trevor is currently completing his Bachelor of Business Administration at Acadia University. His mother, Karen Atwater, is a proud UFCW Canada Local 864 member who works at Xerium in Kentville, Nova Scotia.
Brother Atwater had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:
“Upon graduating from Acadia University, I plan to pursue a career in the field of accounting. Thanks to UFCW Canada’s generous support, I am one step closer to achieving my goal.
Being from a small town, I am faced with limited options when it comes to good-paying summer employment. The monetary support provided by the UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship has helped to lighten my financial burden. This allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school, which is learning. Your outstanding generosity has inspired me to give back to my community and to help others in any way that I can. I hope that one day in the future I will be able to help others just as you have helped me.”
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of 18 union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM Scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
The deadline to apply for the 2017 UFCW Canada - BDM Scholarship is September 30, 2017. To find out more about this renowned union scholarship, or to apply online, click here.
