Toronto – June 14, 2017 – Teachers at the Islamic Institute of Toronto are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 175 after recently voting to join the union.

The 22 full-time teachers employed at the private school are seeking job security that is absent from the contract system that they are currently working under. The workers are also seeking better benefits and compensation for the important work that they perform at the school. They join their colleagues at the Islamic Foundation School in Scarborough in saying “YES!” to UFCW 175.

UFCW Canada Local 175 has requested meeting dates with the employer to begin the process of bargaining a first collective agreement. The union would like to congratulate and welcome the new members at the school. For more information on this story, click here.
