My webCampus Experience: Members rave about Canada’s leading labour education program

My webCampus Experience: Members rave about Canada’s leading labour education programToronto – January 28, 2017 – UFCW Canada members are raving about the union's groundbreaking online education program, webCampus, which offers free online courses to all UFCW Canada members, their families, and community partners.

Many UFCW Canada members take webCampus courses out of personal interest, while others see them as a way to develop their knowledge and professional skills.

webCampus participants had the following to say about their experiences taking various courses through the program over the last few months:

Culinary Skills: The Chef's Knife (Skills Development)

“Before taking this course, I never put much thought into the knives that I use at home. I am a cake decorator but I love to cook too. Through this course, I learned which types of knives are ideal for certain types of cooking, and I find it easier to prepare food now that I am using proper knives. While I will probably never work in a professional kitchen, this course was very helpful for learning the basics of using a knife. I was also encouraged to learn different types of cuts, which I now use to make meals look better for my family and friends.

Fear and Intimidation in the Workplace (Labour Studies)

“This course reinforced my opinion about the importance of labour education. I recently had an issue with a supervisor, and the “Fear and Intimidation in the Workplace” course helped me navigate the problem with my union representative and management. The matter was eventually taken care of in the appropriate way, and I’m glad I decided to take this course.”

Health & Fitness Specialist – Part 1 (Skills Development)

“This course taught me a lot about how the body moves, and I have been able to use that knowledge to improve my workout routine. After taking this course, I am now able to isolate muscle groups for a more effective workout. I have gained a better understanding of how compound movements vary from isolated movements, as well as the importance of warming up, cooling down, and stretching while working out. This course has helped me immensely with my workouts.”
