UFCW activists Light the Night in Regina

Regina, Sask. – September 20, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 1400 activists, friends and family members recently marched from the Wascana Centre Park to the Regina Legislative Building for the annual Light the Night community walk to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC).

The night's sky was filled with illuminating lanterns meant to symbolize the light in the dark world of cancer, red for supporters, white for patients and survivors, and gold to remember loved ones lost. Money raised from Light the Night walks across Canada help fund vital patient support services, advocacy and lifesaving research.

Throughout the night, the combined efforts of UFCW Canada Local 1400 members and activists added thousands of dollars more for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada. UFCW Canada Local 1400 is a major sponsor of Light the Night events throughout Saskatchewan and the event is a part of the numerous special fundraising events Local 1400 participates and organizes throughout the year on behalf of the life changing work of the LLSC.

"The Light the Night event is about the hope we share to one day defeat this deadly disease that affects so many families across the country," says UFCW Canada Local 1400 President Norm Neault. "I would like to thank all of the members, friends and family members who came out to make this year's event another rousing success."

Since adopting the LLSC as the charity of choice in 1985, UFCW Canada has raised over $36 million dollars for the LLSC.
