Toronto – August 15, 2016 – Canada's most diverse and progressive union recently held its annual UFCW Canada Summer Splash, where a packed house of members, friends, family, and community supporters joined together for a evening full of music, dancing, and fundraising.
The annual Toronto event is held in support of Faces of Our Children, an organization dedicated to sickle cell research and outreach. As the adopted charity of the UFCW International Minority Coalition, sickle cell research is particularly important to Caribbean communities in Canada, the United States, and around the world.
This year's Summer Splash event was also an opportunity to reflect on the 2016 Caribana season. UFCW Canada has been participant in the annual parade along Toronto's waterfront, where UFCW Canada activists march and dance with the award-winning and long-standing community partner, Louis Saldenah Mas-K Club.
Caribana organizers have already begun planning for next year's parade which will take place on July 29, 2017.
