UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winner: Nicole Domingo, UFCW 864
Halifax – May 17, 2016 – Nicole Domingo is one of eighteen UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship winners for 2015.
Currently in her fourth year of the Environmental Studies program at Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Nicole is the daughter of Prudencio Domingo, a proud UFCW Canada Local 864 member who works at the Delta Halifax hotel.
Sister Domingo had the following to say about winning a UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship:
“This scholarship will help me in dealing with a number of expenses during my last year at Saint Mary's University. It has given me a boost of motivation at exactly the time that I needed it. The UFCW Canada – BDM Scholarship has also inspired me to do my absolute best in my final year of school. Because of this scholarship, I will now be able to pursue a graduate program after finishing my bachelor’s degree. I am truly lucky and grateful that this opportunity was given to me. Thank you UFCW Canada.”
Every year UFCW Canada offers a total of eighteen union scholarships worth $1,000 each to members, their spouses, and dependants for post-secondary education. The BDM scholarship was created to honour past UFCW leaders William Beggs, Fred Dowling, and Romeo Mathieu.
