YIP gets set for another season as Canada's best youth labour program
Toronto – March 31, 2016 – UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking Young-Workers Internship Program (YIP) is getting set to advance for another season as Canada’s acclaimed training and education programs for young labour activists.
Held annually in week-long sessions across Canada, YIP provides young members an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and abilities through a series of interactive workshops and activities. This year, the YIP experience will focus on understanding key concepts about the economy, politics, and globalization.
The sessions will also feature discussions on what it means to be a union member, and looking at new methods and strategies for young people to positively impact their communities.
"The YIP course surpassed all expectations in capturing my attention and teaching me some great skills in making a positive difference in the community and in my workplace," raved former YIP participant and UFCW Local 401 member Noah Mogesse.
Here are the following dates for this year's Young-Workers Internship Program:
Atlantic Region: May 8 - 13
Ontario: June 12 - 17
Prairies: July 10 - 15
Western Region: August 7 - 12
