Toronto – October 20, 2015 – UFCW Canada recently sent activists to participate in the Caribbean-Canada Emerging Leaders' Dialogues (CCELD), which aim to develop emerging leaders through innovative programs that utilize in-field training.

The theme for this year's CCELD session was 'Leading through Innovation and Transformation' and featured emerging leaders from all sectors of the economy taking part in a dynamic two-week in-field training session.

UFCW Canada delegates travelled across Eastern Canada and the Caribbean visiting communities, workplaces, and institutions to gain exposure to a range of issues from multiple perspectives, collaborate with teammates, and learn how to become better leaders going forward.

Over 60 participants from across Canada and the Caribbean took part in the two-week long session. UFCW Canada delegates Debora De Angelis and Pablo Godoy contributed a labour perspective to the session and offered worker-friendly views to the international tours.

This year's training focused on inclusiveness, diversity, civic engagement, globalization, ethics, integrating technology, collaborative leadership, and embracing failure.

"The CCELD is tremendously exciting, and the firsthand knowledge we gained from attending the program is extremely valuable," says Debora De Angelis, UFCW Canada's Director of Strategic Campaigns. "This session expanded our knowledge of workplace issues both at home and abroad, and provided us with additional insight into global ethics and best practices for leading in a diverse world," Sister De Angelis adds.
