Halifax – August 6, 2015 – UFCW Canada Atlantic activists proudly joined thousands of other participants at the Halifax Pride Parade in downtown Halifax on July 25. The parade was part of the 28th Annual Halifax Pride Festival and featured dozens of floats, including one sponsored by the UFCW Canada Eastern Provinces Council (EPC).
"Celebrating Pride is all about standing in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in the LGBTQ community, and demanding respect and equality for all," says Mark Dobson, UFCW Canada's Regional Director for the Eastern Provinces. "This year's Pride Parade was a huge success and we were extremely honoured to march in it," Brother Dobson adds.
Staff from the EPC office and their family members joined with UFCW Canada Local 864 members and family members to make up the UFCW Canada Atlantic contingent at the event.
The parade took roughly two hours to wind through the streets of downtown Halifax and drew tens of thousands of spectators, making it the one of the largest and most successful Pride parades in the country.
