Workers at Kaybob Lodge join the union – UFCW 401
Foxcreek, Alta. – July 22, 2015 – Workers at Kaybob Lodge in Foxcreek, Alberta are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 401 after voting to join the union earlier this month.
Located about two and a half hours northwest of Edmonton, Kaybob Lodge provides living accommodations and catering services for employees of major energy companies in the Alberta oil sands.
The workers joined UFCW Canada Local 401 to improve their working conditions and job security.
"We are delighted to welcome our new sisters and brothers to UFCW Local 401, and we look forward to providing the Kaybob Lodge members with excellent union representation," says UFCW Local 401 President Doug O'Halloran.
The Kaybob Lodge workers join many other UFCW Canada Local 401 members who work in the oil sands sector, including members at Nexen Aramark in Fort McMurray, Devon Jack Fish in Conklin, and Aramark-Kinosis in northern Alberta, among others.
UFCW Canada Local 401 plans to commence bargaining with the employer very shortly.
