My webCampus Experience – John Lahay, UFCW 1000A
Orillia, Ont. – May 20, 2015 – UFCW Canada members across the country are raving about the union's groundbreaking online education program, webCampus, which offers free online courses to all UFCW Canada members, their family members, and community partners.
Many UFCW Canada members and allies take webCampus courses out of personal interest, while others see them as a way to develop their knowledge and professional skills.
John Lahay is a proud UFCW Canada Local 1000A member who works at Jason's No Frills in Orillia, Ontario. He had the following to say about his experience taking numerous webCampus courses over the last year:
"I first found out about webCampus from a co-worker. To date I have completed 31 webCampus courses. I especially liked the course on Labour History. It showed me the what's and why's of our current labour situation.
As a whole these courses help increase your knowledge, and in doing so, they also increase your skills! The Pharmacy Assistant course is a good example of a skills development course.
My belief is that whatever you can learn above what you already know is very important – we should always be learning! I have completed the Retail Sector Specialist certificate, and I am currently working on completing the requirements for the Human Resources certificate.
I really appreciate that UFCW Canada offers these courses, and I highly recommend them to all UFCW members!"
