New webCampus courses available in June

Good Enough to Work – Good Enough to Stay: Migrant Workers in Canada was created to educate participants about the outdated federal Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP) and the genuine human cost that continues to scar Canada’s reputation internationally.

What You Will Learn in this Course:

  • In our Own Backyard – learn about the rights the double standard that exists when it comes to labour rights, temporary foreign workers, and Canada’s domestic workforce
  • We’ve Seen this Before – watch as César Chávez leads thousands of migrant farm workers in the U.S. during the 1970s to find ways to get respect and fair wages; in Canada, 30 years later, the struggle continues as Patricia Pérez leads migrant farm workers in Canada;
  • A Day in the Life – explore case studies of real people and how they end up living as third world citizens in one of the richest nations in the world;
  • Just Because it’s Legal, Doesn’t Make it Right – see how the law can sound OK, but at the same time violate the rights we value as Canadians;
  • What Will Make the Difference? – learn how UFCW Canada and members like you can make a difference in the lives of guests to our country.

Fear & Intimidation in the Workplace

It's one thing to find your job challenging, but it is something totally different to feel the fear and intimidation that exist in a poisoned work atmosphere. Examples of a poisoned environment can include verbal attacks or demeaning language, putting someone in an embarrassing situation, or centring a person with the intent of humiliation. Often the actions that cause fear and intimidation are also the sources of harassment.

In this course, participants will:

  • Understand the many different forms of intimidation and harassment
  • Learn the legal rights of employees and obligations of the employer
  • Learn how to be assertive

The registration period for both of these new webCampus courses is now open. To register for Good Enough to Work – Good Enough to Stay, Fear & Intimidation in the Workplace and many other excellent webCampus courses, please visit www.webcampus.ufcw.ca.
