New webCampus courses for November and December!

UFCW Canada members, family members, and social justice partners are free to sign-up for the newest webCampus courses launching in November. All webCampus courses are offered at no cost, and can be taken at your own pace anywhere you have a computer and an online web connection.

 

The following new courses, running November through December, are available in English:

Floral Design - Part I

November 2, 2011 – November 25, 2011
Course Description:
This course is designed to give participants a brief overview of the knowledge and abilities of a floral designer.

Floral Design - Part II

November 28, 2011 – December 19, 2011
Course Description: Floral Design – Part II is created for members to continue their exploration into this field. While Floral Design – Part I introduced students to some of the knowledge required, this course continues that journey by taking a more in-depth look at the skills of a floral designer.

 

The following new courses, running November through December, are available in French:

Welding Hazards (Les Dangers du soudage)

November 2, 2011 – November 25, 2011
Course Description:
This program looks at the various hazards faced by welders and those working near welding operations, including hazardous fumes, gases, noise and extreme heat.

Conveyor Systems (Risques associés aux systèmes transporteurs)

November 2, 2011 – November 25, 2011
Course Description: This three-hour course reviews relevant legislation and methods of identifying and assessing conveyor hazards. Participants look at a variety of conveyor systems and the associated hazards including pinch points and sources of entanglement.

Labour History, Part II (Histoire du mouvement ouvrier, partie II)

November 28, 2011 – December 19, 2011
Course Description: This course continues where Part I left off, learning about the Labour Movement's historic events.

Manual Material Handling (Manutention manuelle des matériaux)

November 28, 2011 – December 19, 2011
Course Description:
Material handling refers to the movement and storage of raw materials or finished products in, out and about the workplace. Almost every type of work requires some sort of material handling. Manual material handling tasks are the direct cause of a large number and variety of injuries to workers. The most common are back injuries.
