The two dozen members of Team UFCW Canada Local 1400 helped set a new fundraising record at the Second Annual Saskatoon Light the Night Walk, all in support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). The team — comprised of Local 1400 members, staff and family members — joined over 450 other participants on September 17 to raise funds for research into finding a cure for blood cancers.
With illuminated gold, red and white balloons in hand, the walkathon participants followed the Meewasain Trail, and then back across the Broadway Bridge for a final gathering at Saskatoon's Kiwanis Park. Altogether Team UFCW Canada Local 1400 proudly raised over $17,500. The event topped last year's total, altogether raising over $151,000.
In 2009-2010, UFCW Canada members in total raised more than $1.6 million setting a new annual fundraising record for the sixth year in a row — and reaffirming UFCW Canada as the largest annual source of donations for funding research to develop better treatments and to find a cure.
