Local 12R24 gears up for Bottle Drive!
The members of UFCW Canada Local 12R24 are once again partnering with their employer The Beer Store to run “Returns for Leukemia” – the highly successful bottle drive dedicated to raising research funds for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers.
Last year the two-day Returns for Leukemia event raised a whopping $1,065,412.24 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, which is the country’s leading not-for-profit organization fully committed to the fight for a cure.
This year’s “Returns for Leukemia” will be held on May 28 and 29 at Beers Stores across Ontario. Throughout the weekend after the May 24 holiday, customers are asked to donate all or a portion of their empty bottles (or cash) – with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the LLSC.
The National Office is calling on all UFCW Canada members, families and friends in Ontario to help spread the word about Returns for Leukemia, and volunteer their time – and empties – to the bottle drive in their community.
