Latest UFCW Canada EPC victory adds to growth
Workers at an assisted living retirement home in Greenwich, Nova Scotia have overwhelmingly chosen UFCW Canada representation.
On February, an official count by the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board determined UFCW Canada Local 864 had won a runoff vote 30–0 against the CAW.
The newest members of UFCW Canada Local 864 work at Blomidon Court. The nursing home opened just recently, and is owned by the Shannex Corporation which operates a number of retirement and nursing homes in Atlantic Canada.
It is the latest organizing victory for the UFCW Canada Eastern Provincial Council (EPC). The newly created bargaining unit includes 45 members working as personal care workers, laundry attendants, housekeeping and support service Staff.
