webCampus tops 1,000

UFCW Canada’s groundbreaking online training and education program webCampus recently achieved another milestone by topping the 1,000 mark in terms of total registrations.

“The tremendous popularity and success of webCampus is a direct result of the excellent collaboration that has taken place between the local unions and the National Office on this very important program,” says UFCW Canada National President Wayne Hanley.

Since webCampus was launched less than two years ago, the online resource has expanded at a steady and rapid rate. Today, UFCW Canada members and their families have full and free access to 114 French and English courses. Access to webCampus is also offered to key UFCW Canada communities allies, like Migrante, who share many of the union’s social and economic justice goals.

Working in partnership with Mohawk College, webCampus also offers UFCW Canada members and their families the opportunity to earn college credits in a number of post-secondary certificate programs.

Starting in the fall, webCampus participants will have access to five new English courses: Digital Photography 101; Understanding Collective Bargaining; Pharmacy Assistant (Ontario) – Part 2; Reducing Injuries – Part 3; and Stress Awareness - Part 2. Two new French courses – SIMDUT and Microsoft Word 2007 (Advanced) – are also being added to the program.
