Members at Super C Valleyfield gain new contract – UFCW 500
Valleyfield, Que. – February 11, 2016 – UFCW Canada Local 500 members at the Super C in Valleyfield have overwhelmingly ratified a new collective agreement. Local 500 has represented members at the location for more than 15 years.
The new contract features many benefits and improvements in working conditions for the 80 union members who work at Super C grocery store as assistant cashiers, clerks, butchers and assistant department managers. They include:

a retroactive salary increase of 2% to May 1, 2015 for workers at the top end of the wage scales;

greater increases in wage rates for workers (increasing at three months and 650 hours) and the inclusion of some workers in the new wage scales for greater benefits;

improved vacation time: a third week for workers with four or more years of seniority, a fourth week for those with eight or more years, and a fifth week after 17 years;

nine new positions for full-time workers, with flexible working hours between 32 and 40 hours a week, to be created within four weeks of signing the agreement;

premium pay of $50 per week for assistants who replace managers.
