Activists to gather November 6, in Toronto for UFCW – AWA Awards
Toronto – October 29, 2013 – The honourees for the 2013 UFCW – AWA Awards have been announced. The awards annually recognize and honour exceptional activists and organizations devoted to improving the lives of Canada's agriculture workers.
This year's presentation and award dinner will be held on Wednesday, November 6, in Toronto where the following four honourees will receive their awards:
- Community Category: Lorna Chandler (Alberta community activist)
- Labour Category: Mario Delisle (Secretary-Treasurer, UFCW Canada Local 501)
- Legal Category: Hastings Labour Law Office (Vancouver)
- Political Category: Honourable Jennifer Howard (Minister of Finance, former Minister of Labour, NDP Manitoba)
