Toronto – November 15, 2017 – UFCW Canada activists recently attended and presented at a public hearing on Bill 148, the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act (2017), to demand card-check certification, automatic first contract arbitration, and pay equity for all workers in Ontario.
Toronto – November 14, 2017 – After a difficult round of negotiations, the 28 UFCW Canada Local 175 members working at the Islamic Foundation School of Toronto have ratified their first collective agreement.
Montreal – November 10, 2017 – UFCW Canada Local 500 activist Rosannie Filato has been elected as the new city councillor for the Montreal borough of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc Extension after defeating incumbent councillor Elsie Lefebvre in the city’s municipal election, held on November 5.
Washington, D.C. – November 9, 2017 – OUTreach, the UFCW constituency group for LGBTQI2S and allies, is offering four scholarships for UFCW members to attend the 2018 Creating Change Conference in Washington, D.C., scheduled for January 24 – 28, 2018.
