Toronto – September 24, 2014 – To date, American retail giant Target has reported a loss of almost $1.6 billion from its train wreck of an expansion into Canada. Ignoring the advice of industry pundits and retail experts, Target opened 124 new stores in Canada at break-neck speed, refusing to honour the jobs of more than 20,000 former Zellers workers in the process.

In 2011, Olga decided to come to Canada from her native Russia to learn English at a college or university. Olga holds degrees in business administration from post-secondary institutions in Russia.

Toronto – September 19, 2014 – Canada’s most progressive union is urging the Harper government to commit to supporting safe working conditions in Bangladesh’s garment sector. UFCW Canada activists are sending letters to the government demanding action to stop another tragedy like Rana Plaza, in which 1,135 garment workers were killed and more than 2,500 were injured when their factory collapsed more than a year ago.
Martensville, Sask.– September 18, 2014 – Dozens of community and family members joined UFCW Canada Local 1400 members at a picket line barbeque outside the Richardson Milling plant near Martensville, Saskatchewan on September 16.
