As Canada’s largest private sector union, UFCW Canada takes Political Action seriously because the decisions made by elected officials affect UFCW Canada members in their workplace, their homes and in their communities.

Through a number of initiatives, the National Office provides activists and Local Union staff across Canada with the tools and resources to support and elect political leaders who understand the issues that face UFCW Canada members and their families.

From health care, to pensions, to daycare, to affordable housing, to taxes, to workplace rights and more — UFCW Canada Political Action means a strong voice for positive change and a better future for working people.

Political Action means offering UFCW Canada members training developed by the National Office to equip activists with the tools they need to make a real difference in the election campaigns and political outcomes that impact their lives and the future of their communities.

Political Action also means mobilizing in non-election periods by training UFCW Canada members to effectively Lobby their elected representatives for laws and policies that benefit working families.

The UFCW Canada National Political Action Network is another initiative to harness UFCW Canada collective strength at both the local and national level and to expand the union’s network of politically engaged activists.

UFCW Canada has a proud history of supporting parties and candidates that stand up for working families. Whether through lobbying, building community coalitions, activist training opportunities, or local election campaign support, UFCW Canada continues to be a strong voice through Political Action to support politicians and parties who fight for workers’ rights and worker friendly legislation.
