Industry Snapshot: Snacks and confectionary valued at $2 billion
Toronto – November 3, 2021 – According to Statistics Canada, the snack and confectionary industry is nearing the lucrative $2 billion mark. And with Halloween just passing, there’s no surprise Canadian pantries are full of treats not tricks.
Canadians enjoyed the fall gathering in many parts of the country where permitted Halloween festivities brought local ghouls and goblins to trick or treat for snacks and candies which according to the nation’s statistics bureau has revenue upwards $1.2 billon and valued at $1.9 billion.
Snacks and confectionary exports $616.5 million, imports $987.6 million and pays nearly $300 million in salaries and wages. With the nation awash in candy, it’s no surprise so many enjoy UFCW-made snacks and confectionary products.
