Montreal – August 26, 2021 – Agriculture workers from three locations in the Laurentian region of Quebec are the newest members of UFCW 501 after having their application for certification approved by the Administrative Labour Tribunal (TAT).
“We are delighted to welcome the workers from Serres Sagami and Serres Biologico into our local union and thank them for having the confidence in us to improve their working conditions,” says UFCW 501 President Alain Lachaîne. “By joining our local union these workers can count on our support and solidarity to strengthen their position in the workplace.”
The new members work in the production, storage and packaging of tomatoes across three greenhouses in Saint-Janvier and Sainte-Sophie and joined the union to improve working conditions across the agricultural sector.
