13th METROPOLIS CONFERENCE 2011 - ACTIVISM IN MOTION
As part of UFCW Canada’s national initiatives with immigrant and migrant worker communities, about 25 UFCW Canada delegates and allies from across the country actively participated in the 13th National Metropolis Conference — Immigration: Bringing the World to Canada, held in Vancouver, British Columbia.


It has been more than fifty years since the most unspeakable racist incidents occurred in South Africa, shocking the whole world and prompting the United Nations to declare March 21, as a commemorative date to observe the International Day for the elimination of racial discrimination. This incident screamed the word "racism" as a gigantic billboard to challenge humanity with the consequences of intolerance.

TORONTO - Thanks to the efforts of the Agriculture Workers Alliance/UFCW Canada, the door has been opened for about 130 migrant and domestic farm workers to get the back pay they were owed when the Ontario farm they worked at declared bankruptcy last fall.
UFCW Canada’s outstanding commitment to empowering workers through training and education recently went global with its participation in the first-ever Global Workers Defenders Network Forum, held in Tapachula, Mexico from January 24 to 28.
