UI Contact training instructors join the union – UFCW 501
Montreal – August 14, 2014 – UFCW Local 501 (TUAC 501) proudly announces that a new group of workers from UI Contact in Laval – formerly Utopia Image Inc. – has joined the union.
UFCW 1118 and 401 assist Calgary families in need
Calgary – August 13, 2014 – UFCW Canada Locals 1118 and 401 have donated over $2,000 in food to the Calgary Food Bank as a result of a campaign that the unions jointly ran. The donation will assist more than 30 Calgary families in need.
Veterinary workers join the union — UFCW 175
Toronto – August 7, 2014 – Employees of Veterinary Emergency Clinics (VEC) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of joining UFCW Canada Local 175. As a result of the successful certification vote, VEC has become only the second animal hospital in Ontario to unionize.
Workers at Scarborough LensCrafters join the union – UFCW 1000A
Toronto – July 29, 2014 – LensCrafters associates are clearly seeing the union advantage as a new group of LensCrafters employees at Scarborough Town Centre in Toronto have voted "YES" to joining UFCW Canada Local 1000A.The organizing victory makes the Scarborough Town Centre store the fifth LensCrafters location to be represented by Local 1000A.
Workers at Lawtons Drugs Halifax join the union – UFCW 864
Halifax – July 25, 2014 – Workers at Lawtons Drugs in downtown Halifax are the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 864 after voting "YES" to joining Canada's best retail union. The bargaining unit was recently certified by the Nova Scotia Labour Board, following a successful determination vote in June.
