It’s #NOTokay — Take action to end violence against women
Toronto – November 25, 2014 – UFCW Canada is proud to participate in the YWCA Rose Campaign’s #NOTokay social media initiative. The campaign calls on individuals to take a stand on violence against women by sharing their voices in response to any tweets, posts, videos, images or clips that objectify, belittle or attack women in society.


Winnipeg – November 22, 2014 – UFCW Canada activists recently joined hundreds of other community at Childcare 2020 — the fourth-ever national child care policy conference ever held in Canada, and the first in a decade.
Toronto – November 20, 2014 – Canada’s union for Walmart workers joined with activists from around the world for the Global Day for Decent Work at Walmart. On November 19, UFCW Canada activists protested at Walmart Canada headquarters and one of the largest Walmart supercentres in the Greater Toronto Area.
Toronto – November 17, 2014 – Around the world, Walmart workers and their supporters will be calling on the world’s largest employer to provide good jobs and better wages. November 19 is the Global Day for Decent Work at Walmart.
Brampton, Ont. – November 15, 2014 – UFCW Canada Local 175 activist Sheree Backus was recently awarded the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) Community Activist Award for her outstanding efforts in advocating for injured workers across the province.
Ottawa – November 13, 2014 – Recently, NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair announced his party’s plan to create one million affordable childcare spaces across Canada. The goal of this plan is to ensure parents don’t pay more than $15 a day for a childcare space.
