Human Rights Day — December 10

Toronto – December 8, 2014 – Each year, on December 10, Human Rights Day is observed around the world, in recognition of the United Nations General Assembly adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.


Toronto – December 6, 2014 – UFCW Canada stands in support of the Ryerson Students' Union's Freeze the Fees campaign, which has called on the Ryerson University administration to freeze tuition fees.
Montreal – December 2, 2014 – A large contingent of UFCW Canada members, activists, and Quebec Local Union leaders took part in simultaneous marches held in Montreal and Quebec City on November 29th, to take a stand against the austerity measures announced by provincial Premiere Philippe Couillard and his Liberal government.
Toronto – December 1, 2014 – The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was first proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly. Globally it is now estimated that there are over 1 billion persons living with some form of disability.
Ottawa – November 28, 2014 – On Wednesday, a motion to defeat Private Member's Bill C-377, Stephen Harper’s attack on workers and their unions, was rejected by the Senate.
Toronto – November 27, 2014 – The latest round of the Fairness Works campaign is rolling out with new ads that continue to focus on the positive impact unions have on the lives of all Canadians.
