Online campaign succeeds as Benetton agrees to pay victims of Rana Plaza tragedy
Treviso, Italy – February 28, 2015 – UFCW Canada members, labour and community activists, and concerned citizens around the world are celebrating a hard-won victory for justice after a successful online pressure campaign – led by Avaaz and various labour unions – compelled Italian fashion company Benetton to compensate victims of the Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh.


Geneva — February 26, 2015 — UFCW Canada activists, allies, and labour unions around the world are celebrating a breakthrough agreement between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and government and employer members of the ILO, which acknowledges the Right to Strike is protected under ILO Convention 87.
Toronto – February 26, 2015 – Walmart’s recent announcement that over half a million of its U.S. workers will get raises, but without the guarantee of hours, is a move that falls short of the needs of workers and their families, and will have no impact here in Canada.
