Montreal – March 21, 2013 - While the vast majority of Zellers stores have ceased operations, including those locations purchased by American retail giant Target, one Quebec store under the Zellers banner has survived the wave of closures.
Mexico City - March 21, 2013 – UFCW Canada has signed a new agreement with the Mexican State of Guerrero's Secretariat of International and Migrant Affairs (SEMAI), and the municipal government of Chilapa de Alvarez to create the first-ever migrant census of the region. Together, the organizations will work to create a comprehensive overview regarding temporary agricultural workers who migrate within the northern states of Mexico, the United States and Canada.
Ottawa – March 21, 2013 – UFCW Canada is promoting a new youth leadership initiative aimed at educating young Canadians about workplace health safety, employee rights, and fairness on the job. The contest is seeking original youth-made videos on how to work safe and smart on the job in order to prevent injuries and illnesses at work.

Montreal – March 19, 2013 – Hatchery workers in the Quebec region of St-Félix-de-Valois have become the newest members of UFCW Canada Local 501 by recently voting “Yes!” to the leading voice for workers and their families.
Ottawa – March 17, 2013 – 18 percent of racialized men report experiencing discrimination or unfair treatment when dealing with the police or courts; compared to 5.8 percent of non-racialized men in Canada.
Vancouver – March 16, 2013 – The British Columbia (B.C.) Labour Board has denied an attempt by the Mexican government to suppress documentary evidence – including the testimony of former consular officials – that supports allegations the Mexican government was involved in blacklisting union supporters from returning to Canada as part of the migrant worker program.
Guatemala City, Guatemala – March 15, 2013 – UFCW Canada has joined Amnesty International and a growing number of civil society and social justice organizations around the globe in calling for an independent, thorough and impartial investigation into the killing of union activist Carlos Hernández.
